Licensed to Chill

So what is Licensed to Chill?

Licensed to Chill is a one-woman stand-up performance poetry show. It’s a chilled out mix of performance poetry, prose and humour. A great girls night out for all ages and a wonderful way to unwind and switch off from the pressures of life. Liz’s aim is to be topical, culturally relevant and thought provoking – challenging various stereotypes in an amusing way. The show lasts just over an hour plus an interval.

Is it just for women?

Yes, but Liz also performs another show for a mixed audience called ‘Liz Babbs Unplugged!’

Is it just for Christians?

No, the show is suitable for anyone. In fact, folk love seeing Christians having a laugh and not taking themselves too seriously!

Where is it best held?

The show works best as a girls night out, the more inventive the venue the better. Liz has performed Licensed to Chill in various restaurants, wine bars, Costa Coffee shops, mini theatres and arts centres, golf clubs etc; for such organisations as Sunday Night Live, Share Jesus International, Activate, Love Cornwall, Pentecost Festival, Focusfest, etc. In 2011, Liz hopes to take the show to the Edinburgh Fringe.

What is the ideal format for the event?

Licensed to Chill works best in a relaxed atmosphere over a meal or buffet and drinks. The meal starts the evening and then this is followed by Licensed to Chill, which has an interval in the middle, so that folk can get more drinks or take a comfort break.
